I'm tempted with the Pace myself based on the price. The hardware is good, it's just the firmware that's suspect, but Pace are still chipping away at it.

I think we all have a lot to learn about HDCP.

I've e-mailed a couple of UK firms who supply the YPbPr to RGBHV VGA Box about the HDCP issues, you never know, they might even know the answers :?

I away for a week from today - isle of wight/new forest for a bit of biking, so I'll follow this up when I get back.

I've look at going down the route of DVB-S2 Box for my monitor but I find it to much of hassle to switch over from VGA to DVI-D for HDCP enabled viewing and not be able to use the PC at the same time.

Most HD broadcasters don't enable HDCP right now since all the receivers come with component / YPbPr anyway.

You're welcome to the Starbox mastercare, I've mailed you.

I've taken the plunge and bought a Fortec Passion HD receiver from Maplins - they're doing them for £149 again now.
The Component to VGA Converter arrives tomorrow - I'll report back on how well it works with PC monitor.
Hopefully I'll be watching the England /Israel match on BBC HD on Saturday.
If this works OK I'll be looking for some advice from you guys about a suitable CAM. Is there an idiots guide to cams somewhere?
Thanks for all the help so far

Sounds good. We don't have many members with the Passion HD, so it'll be interesting to hear your opinion on it.

The Diablo has to be the CAM to buy at the moment. Does the most, has the best support and costs the least.

There are several posts here about programming the Diablo. The manual that comes with it is pretty good, I've read it.

Mickha is our resident expert, and I'm sure he can give you any extra info you need.

My initial impressions of the Passion HD are good. It came with quick set up which loads up Astra2 fta channels as soon as you select english as default language.
USALS works fine with my existing motorised rig and Hotbird and Astra1 also have some pre-loaded channels to get you started.
When switching between an HD and SD channel the screen goes black for a few seconds which can be a bit alarming, but then it sorts itself out and settles down.
The component to VGA converter only seems to work when the receivers output is set to 720p. This gives reasonably good picture quality on my PC monitor but the picture doesn't extend to the full width of the screen, even with max width adjustment on the monitor's settings. So the picture width is about 12 inches - time to get out the +3 reading glasses and press my nose against the screen. .
Unless anyone has any other suggestions I shall have to start saving for a proper television thingy.

Very interesting. The HD/SD delay might also be a characteristic of the monitor.

Only 12 inches, eh? Well, that doesn't sound too fantastic for you... Do you have any other devices that will work with the converter? It could be the box being a bit funny about it all.
Bar lowering the height of the image, there's not much else I can suggest. It could be that it's just an unfortunate combination
