Question Re: Whats your favorite Receiver

Hi all, I personally own a TM1500. VERY good receiver! (from a newbie point of view anyway)
But lot of changes have occurred since the first post in this thread. I would be curious (as I am looking to get a new stb) to know if some of the voters would stick to their opinion now that many channels have gone dark.(Nag3)
Do some stb's give access to more channels than others? Probably the linux based ones. And that's where I am looking to find my next stb. And what to your opinion would be the most future proof stb?
(I manually move my dish towards different satellites. Sounds weird, but very easy to do for me. So multisat but no motor)
Regards to all

I've always found the Comag to do its job well (even though it does give me some nasty little electric shocks) and I really like the brightly glowing red and yellow LEDs on the front. I've always loved bright, glowing LEDs as a kid, so if you want me to buy something, put glowing LEDs in it and you've got a sale.
That and it was £50.

I have to mention the PC card, though - the biggest plus of which is the ease of recording transport streams, the way you don't have to go through a load of menus with a remote control and it's a key part in streaming satellite television across networks and the Internet.

The PC card gets more use nowadays, what with the streaming and that, but I wouldn't ever get rid of the

Personally I like any of the Technomates, but especially the TM6900 combo super as it also has MPEG4 decoding for terrestrial which is available from some transmitters in Ireland. Then there is the USB front and back. Though not the most sensible system for setting the recorder(ie not S+ easy) it does work well. Have never had a problem with it, but maybe I'm not trying hard enough!

If I get the time to play maybe I will try a linux box that most of you seem to prefer, but not today.

i started off with a Pace rx with a different badge on the front. then i moved up to a Pace 500 i think it was. it was ages ago. soon after i went digital and got a Echostar 880. it had a different working system. on the Pace u could select your audio sub chns while watching the tv .. or not. this meant u could listen to the radio while watching some tv .. even if the tv was dull.
now ive got a TM1500ci. its very similar to the Echostar. ive just bought a TM5200D for the other room .. and have to say its got a better SORT system than the earlier model. u can highlight as many chnls at once ..and shift them in one click. how kool is that. .. oh .. i did have a Man Plaza for about 3 days before it locked up. it was returned and later sold on ebay.
Technomate .. so far.

Ive got an old Humax 5400 and its still pulling in an amazing amount of channels of decent content.
Of course you have got to keep up with the patches every few months but it still working mint.
I have been saving for a dreambox 8000hd with £600 so far in the kitty and if I get as much fun from the dream as from my old hummy I will be delighted.
