Hi,
Following some sound advice from a number of members I have just taken delivery of a Technomate 1000D Super receiver and expect a dish etc in the next couple of days. I have some questions I hope more learned members can answer for me: 1. I noticed the Technomate can be connected to the TV aerial so thought I'd get it installed straight away and replaced my freeview box with it. I switched it on and got the language menu up as per the instructions but nothing happens when i press OK to select English as the language. The menu just remains. The remote appears to work OK as it can switch the box off or on but no other buttons seem to have any effect and it stays in the language menu. I can't scroll up and down the language choices either. Any ideas? Does it need to be connected to an LNB as well before it will install? Does it need to go back? 2. Does this receiver work as a freeview digital TV receiver as well or is the aerial connection just to deliver an analogue signal through to the TV? 3. The rear of my house faces approx due south. I am considering putting my dish (Triax 88cm) on the eastern gable as it is above a flat roof garage which gives me good access for adjustment etc. but this will obviously limit me to eastern satellites. Will i be missing much to the west? Thanks. Si |

Your Technomate receiver can't work as a freeview box, I think there is one Vantage receiver that can do both but satsid can tell you more about the benefits of the vantage.
You should be able to alter general settings, in the menu, without the receiver being atached to a LNB but your manual should give you more detailed information. There are a number of good satellites to the west, including Thor 1W and Hispasat 30W, as well as a number of other satellites with available channels and feeds, so it is worth considering trying to get 45E to 30W, if possible. |

Right where do we start
![]() The aerial connectors on the back of the technomate serve as a pass through for terrestrial TV and an RF output for the satellite only ![]() The Technomate is just a satellite receiver, it can't do terrestrial freeview as its tuner only supports the higher freqencies broadcast by Satellite ![]() The best place to fit the dish is on the south end of the house, so you can get viewing from the whole of the satellite arc available to the UK ![]() There is a lot open on the western side of the arc. There's Digi TV on 1w, DMC on 12.5w and TV Cabo and D+ on 30w, there is also Aquiva on 5e which you might not get if the dish is placed on the east wall of the house ![]() ![]() Nano And i see Mikha has beaten me to it

thank you both, clearly explained, the technomate will only receive satellite, the dish needs to be on the south wall.
i still can't get the menu to change and the manual only says press OK which isn't doing anything. i think i'll try some new batteries in the remote. |

You might be able to mount the dish right on the corner of the house? Just don't use expanding bolts in the brickwork too close to the edge!
I have mine on a West-facing wall, but pointing South. http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...ic,1058.0.html
