Good evening,
I'd like to use the 2nd LNB input on my Humax HDCI-2000 to recieve Astra2 at 28.2E, and get the HD channels. I have a 90cm dish already up for Hotbird and Astra 1. As I see it I could also put another LNB onto the original dish or put up a separate dish for Astra 2. What would be your advice be on this ? If it's a second dish what would be the size? I live in the Isle of Wight. Regards and thanks... ops: ![]() |

I would say whichever worked out cheapest and easiest.
You're only going to need a zone1 minidish. Also depends on whether you already have a mulibracket with room on it, or if you have a monoblock. You would probably have to mess with your existing setup, to ensure that the third LNB got enough signal. |

Hello Robbo.
It's a monoblock so there would be a certain amount of messing about. I'm very pleased with the set up I have and don't really want to disturb it. I think another dish would be the answer. My main concern is that I live in a ground floor flat, surrounding a small courtyard, and with one dish up already didn't want to have to put up anything too big. I think that what you've suggested will be ok. Thanks for your help. |

Yes, compared to a 90cm, the weeny minidish would hardly be noticeable,
and if you get the one without the pole (comes with small wall bracket instead), I think it looks nicer. |

The Humax HDCI-2000 doesn't have a second LNB input - it's a single-tuner box! The other F connection is for loopthrough.

Well that complicates matters a bit. A simple option would be to use an A/B switch between the monoblock and the new LNB for 28.2, but then you have to get off your bum to change it. Since the receiver doesn't have a 12V O/P a relay is out of the question. There are compatibility problems using a DiSEqC 1.0 switch with a monoblock, and it probably wouldn't work. Theoretically a DiSEqC 1.1 switch such as the Spaun SUR211F set to 1st uncommitted should do the trick. (assuming that your rec can talk DiSEqC 1.1.) ( Not tried it though) More info here:- http://www.spaun.de/index.php?lang=en&modul=products Other than that your'e back to the Multi LNB bracket, with a conventional 4x1 DiSEqC 1.0 switch and 3 separate LNBs, which could either by 2 for Hotbird and Astra1 on one dish and the 3rd on another dish. Or all three on the same dish with a 20 degree multibracket. |

Hello again, sorry about that. I got ahead of myself. As soon as I posted I realised my mistake, but you got the gist of it. Thanks for your info regarding the Astra.
Based on what Robbo has said I think I'll leave my set up as it is. As I've read on here I believe there are more HD channels opening fairly soon on the 2 sats I can work. Thanks again... ![]() |
