J W Hardy, is your best bet for your brackets. I've used them for over 25 years and never had any problems with their deliveries or goods and the staff are very helpfull.

yeah to get my andrews dish up the t&k need to be modded to fit the 3 inch pole as i was going to try and get away with 2inch pole for the jaeger 1224 motor but i dont want to cut corners or something will go wrong

Larger diameters and relatively short lengths do get more expensive, but that really winds me up, especially when you know that they're buying in fairly large quantities from a stockholder.

You can get 2.5m of 4.5" stainless tube for that!

You have to shop around, as with all things.

Yep, I'll have to lend my tuppence worth.

Stainless is the way forward for any structural mount IMO.

Stronger, harder to work with, harder to cut/drill, harder to do any welding on, but durable and less prone to rust, etc (especially if you can nick/obtain 316 grade).

Mounted my 80cm motorised dish on an L shaped wall bracket and has been solid (1/8 " wall thickness of pipe)- no probs.

Got myself a 3m length of stainless 2" pipe for mounting my Triax 110cm dish and motor which I'm going to set in the ground. . (not sure what grade? looks ok though)

regards

3" stainless tubing is easy to come by down here. You can find it sticking out the back of any parked Subaru WRX ops:

Now that I have had my memory jogged was doing a job in an ice cream factory a few weeks ago and had to cut out some 3" stainless steel piping, at least 12 ft long and just left in the roof space. I might try to head back over there and scrounge meself some.

Nothing like the bling of stainless steel though.

I'm going to swipe the handrails at my local swimming baths (sorry, 'fitness centre') for a bit of raw material
