Default finding hotbird - properly!!!

Me (again) another annoying question ops:
a. if i am on 28.2 (found by fluke) and have a compass on the dish base for alignment, how far do i go and which direction??

b. the posistion of the sats are xdeg e/w with reference to where? n or s?? i can hit 28.2 in the dark now..heh, heh (coz i made a mark on the wall) heh, heh....

c. my 35cm dish pulls in around 70% and 65 - 71% signal etc... in the rain!! isthere a way to switch directions easily when its mounted higher up, currently screwed to a plywood base which i was going to glue to the roof of the bay under my window.... note no sellotape

Hi
28 is east so that is left if you were standing at the back of your dish.west is to the right of your dish.19 east and 13 east is slightly higher in the arc.So its 15 degs from 28 which is only very little movement.think like 15 clicks.so elveavation needs a couple of clicks also upwards

If you are deperate for mutisatellite without alll the hassle of moving the dish everytime (no fun in bad weather - I did that for years!) then you need a setup like this:

In the northern hemisphere it is referenced to south.
In the southern hemisphere it referenced to north.
(The TV satellites are in a geostationary orbit above the equator, some 36000 km up)

Yes you can get a motorised dish setup, as well as a Multi LNB system as AS has suggested.

Robbo - cheers so that means we are in the northern hemisphere then, so i start at south and go 28/19 deg to the left and back a bit....
Stick, cant afford it - i wish! so i point south and fiddle..... i still have the posisition of astra so no major probs then
