If it works ok then yes it is a good buy.
It can be connected to the loop through lnb cable connection on the back of your receiver. However, that means your Skystar card will only get the channels that are on the transponder being seen by your receiver. You would be a lot better off to fit a twin lnb and allow the Skystar card to receive all of the channels on the satellite your dish is looking at. Obviously the encrypted channels would still give you a black screen. There are plugins that allow decryption of some encrypted channels. The Skystar has a few benefits over and above the patched receivers and are similar in some ways to the linux based receivers, being software controlled.

All the help is here, and all the naughty bits are out on the Internet. I find skystar-2.com a good reliable source.

I have a Skystar 2 and TM1000D and use the loopthrough a lot. If I want to use the Skystar 2 I just put the TM on standby then I get all the channels on the same satellite but if I turn the technomate back on I only get the channels on the same transponder. With the Skystar of course you can also record to hard drive

It will be a similar sort of set up to this one
![]() The Technomate disconnects the loopthrough when its powered up and then releases it when you switch it off. My Sky digibox works fine when connected to the Technomates loopthrough ![]() ![]() Nano
