Default My second motorised dish

Took the photos ages ago, but being a lazy barsteward only just got around to posting 'em.

My 88cm dish at the rear of the house can only get from 45E as far as 8W due to next doors house!

Intially I put up a second dish on the side of the house near the front for 30W (static). It has now crept right around the corner onto the front and latched itself onto the porch - and sprouted a motor too. The wife couldn't believe it when I told her what had happened!

With this second dish I can get 12.5W to 58W.

The dish is a Raven Aries 80cm. The Motor is a Moteck 2100A. The pole is a 2" galvanized scaffold pole, painted matt black to look like one of those professional Sky installation jobbies.

Here is my original post if you can be ar$ed

Yorks

First pic. shows dish pointing at 12.5W. Unbelievably pulling everything in, though it looks like next doors roof is in the way.

Second pic. scewed round onto 58W.

Very neat job.

Good positioning too, none of that P ing about up a ladder.

Which sat did you set it up on, 12.5W?

Haha.

I used 30W, as it was somewhere roughly in the middle of my arc, and I knew roughly where Hispasat was - from when the dish was static around the corner. I had already established that I needed to be on the end of the extension wall before installing - in order to get 12.5W, using my battered 80cm Lidl dish and a patio parasol stand (the ones you fill with water ), balanced on the extension roof. (I think you needed to be there).

Known in the trade as Sneakus Dishcreepus, it also seems to include a cheeky increase in dish diameter too. This seems to happen most noticeably whilst WAGs are out shopping, or admiring a new kitchen or bathroom you've just installed.

Very neat Yorks. You seem to have a knack with this satellite malarkey

Very nice install

I'm thinking of upgrading to probably a 1.1m Triax in the near future, Don't think the motor or the wife will allow any bigger

Yep. I discussed the choice of dish with her indoors, and she said she preferred black mesh rather than transparent type - but this was when it was slightly around the corner, static on 30w. If she could have had a transparent motor and pole too, then she might have gone for it - so would I. But with the pole and brackets painted to match the dish, it doesn't look too bad.

All down to personal choice really. Or should I say wife's personal choice ops:

Hi Yorks,
does that dish point to your house?
wow, have you checked the loft? maybe that's where that missing satellite that dissapeared from the orbit a few months ago

Seriously, nice job. is mesh gives much lower gain than the solid one of the same size? I wanted to get mesh first but then got dB greedy :spite:

LOL. Another foot further in and 12.5W is a no-no. Maybe the missing satellite is in next door's loft.

The dish out performs the Lidl 80cm solid dish, that I started with on 30W. I know this is not much of an accolade :. That one buckled in the strong winds that we had at the beginning of this year. This is another reason why I opted for mesh , although in it's current location it is in a less exposed position than it was on the side of the house.

Yorks.
