Default strange happenings..

Hi,
A little problem - whe i set the dish up with the silvercrest its a good signal, wheni plug in to the old sky box the same signals break up, freeze, go down... and the silvercrest dish appears to give more signal still....
Scenario the dish is mounted on a wall with its back about 10 inches away from the wall (will that affect it?) the LNB and dish were 'found' in the street - dish in good nick no rust, lnb works unknown how well.... this is starting to peeve me off now!! :spite: any ideas?
The digibox is a model 2200 - dont kno whow old it is though!!! basically how can i improve a weak signal?
Cheers

Hi,

The _sky box may have a lower sensitivity than the Silvercrest.

Bit confused what dishes you have now.
But whichever one your sky box is connected to has either poor cabling (damaged, too long or poor quality), needs new LNB, is too small, or not aligned optimally. Has the LNB skew been adjusted.

The wall behind the dish makes no difference, unless the dish has the wrong LNB on it. As only the signals that bounce off the dish should hit the LNB. No signals will pass through the dish as the wavelength is too big even for the perforated dishes.

The dish (s) the 35 cm Silvercrest - brilliant signal...
Standard sky dish quad LNB
Yes i have skwed the LNB, and it is the phillips standard one the cable is about 5m - white digi coax.

I have taken the sky box aprt last nite and checked for dry joints, found the nut on the dish unit a bit loose ops: now i have moved the sky dish again : so have start from square one (AGAIN!!) god this is fun the silercrest pulls in channels the sky box cant - so point noted about sensitivity Maybe i can get another little CHEAP silvercrest box for downstairs (see below)

Cant afford/have a bigger dish its a residential guest house - the landlord, (who is a tight misarable sod) no doubt will go nuclear when he sees it....

Happy days eh!!
