Tiscali's internet protocol television (IPTV) service is now available to 5m UK households following an accelerated roll-out from London and Stevenage to towns and cities including Milton Keynes, Hemel Hempstead, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Leicester, Liverpool, Salford and Warrington.
Mary Turner, CEO of Tiscali UK, said the bundled digital TV, telephony and broadband service would be available to 10m homes by Christmas, with an entry-level package offering 50 TV channels, including Sky's basic channels Sky One, Sky News and Sky Sports News priced at £19.99. "We believe we can offer great value digital TV and the best value triple-play service in the UK for those who don't want to pay for expensive premium TV, but do want more than Freeview," added Turner. In July Tiscali acquired the UK broadband and voice assets of internet service provider Pipex for £210m. Last year Tiscali UK merged with pioneering video-on-demand provider Video Networks.
