Hi,
someone had to be awkward and this time it's me.I have rather a question, which will hopefully start a nice new thread. Does anyone have a setup to track a floating satellites (there maybe a proper name for them) - that is a sat which is off its geostationary orbit. On the normal set up you may catch it twice a day or something like that and only for a second or so. Does anyone have any experience in chasing those birds? just curious. Admin, feel free to delete it if its out of the scope here. my setup soon to be (choosing a box) is triax90cm, H-H mount and ??? for a tuner, located at about 50N and about 0W at a nice elevation in High Peaks

These satellites wander in an increasingly large figure '8' and can be viewed for much longer than a second or two when they pass in front of the dish.

That's alright - I walked into McDonalds today and asked for some food! Doh!
You should be able to see some of the inclined orbit sats for 15 mins or more at a time.

All sorts of stuff, but mainly feeds intended for those with the professional capacity to track them.
Nothing stopping you having a play yourself, then you can tell us what you find. Park your dish up at a location where there is an inclined orbit satellite and monitor it for 24 hours. The window will shift day on day, but the satellite will wobble it's way in front of your dish at some point ![]()
