We have a water feature already. It may never see sunlight again, (much like the rest of the garden), once I get this dish up! It's MASSIVE!!

In preparation for tomorrows "big dig" I loosely assembled the motor and and dish bracket last night. Am missing the nuts and bolts, (6), to hold the dish to the bracket and was wondering what the calibration on the dish bracket is for.. (declination)?
I assume the bolts should have come with the dish but as they haven't what do I need, (Triax TD88)? Do they need to be galvanised or anything? Too late to moan at Simon now as intend getting it up tomorrow, (ooerr!), so will need to be Homebase jobbies.. Also when re-surveying the intended location last night I happened to notice 2 100ft trees that I'm almost certain were not there the first time I looked It would appear the existing Sly dish just ignores them but I think they are slightly right of 28 which might slightly interfere with Hotbird etc. What's the councils policy on tree removal for line of sight community projects??!!

You're mad
![]() 100 foot trees? :roflmao: Any pink elephants? If you're missing the large 'U' clamps from the dish (yes, they should have come with it) then you might have trouble sourcing them from a DIY store. They are pretty large and square shaped, not rounded. I've got away with using large exhaust clamps before now, so try a motoring shop first. Take your dish with you for added hilarity and ribbing in-store. You especially need to make sure they're long enough once you've looped them through the dish bracket and got the back grip on. I've had to by them too big and then re-shape them into a square form to fit before now. See if you can lash something temporary up and then go shout at Simon for your proper clamps.

We try to say declination when talking about the dish adjustment, as opposed to elevation when talking about motor adjustment. Just to keep things simple really.

Funny, My missus said that I was mad too
Not the U bolts missing - have a dish and a silver metal bracket that should be attached to it - but cant because has no bolts.. see if I can find a pic in a mo..No pink elephants - yet, (Mates b-day celeb tonite so maybe in the morning)! Dish elevation - where do I measure that from - is that the 30 degree bit? Perhaps I'll read the manual again..

Can't find a pic. Its the bolts that hold the dish itself to the bracket that has the clamp with the u bolts that connects to the motor arm. Clear as mud then.. 6 in all in a straight line with the lnb arm going up the dish to about the centre..

![]() or is the bracket tapped. My dish has nuts and bolts, the bolts have a really flat domed head on them, with a square section on the stem to go through sqaure holes in the dish. Regarding elevation, You have the motor elevation angle, which is determined by your latitude. The higher your latitude the lower the motor elevation angle required (elev=90-lat). Some motors are marked with both elevation and latitude. and there is the declination (or dish elevation as I call it) which is adjusted for best position on your nearest due south sat. ( after initially setting to what is says in the manual if you want). The motor elevation is set first, even before you put it on the pole if you want. @Lancelot Yes that keeps it simpler, declination for dish elevation and elevation for motor elevation..
