Hi Everyone
You've probably answered all of these questions many times before but......here goes anyway! I've had Sky and Freeview and would like to try my own satellite. I would like a motorised dish with receiver. My main question is what will I get on the screen and do I have to buy a card of some kind to get anything like movies or footie? Last question I would like a good reliable system but don't want to pay the earth (£200-ish) Thanks for any replies cheers Ali |

Hiya m8, welcome to the forum
![]() What will you get on the screen? Well, basically whatever you want! Movies, sport, news, just about anything. The hardest part is weeding out the cr@p, because for every good channel their is 10 cr@p ones : ![]() Also, bare in mind that their is a fair amount of adult stuff, something you need to be aware of if you have kids around the house. So, you'd need a dish (£50), motor (£60), receiver (Technomate 1000 £60), LNB, c@ble and 'F'connectors (£20 or so) and some mounting brackets and pole (£30). OK, so that comes to just over £200 but it's just a general idea. The Technomate can be 'patched', allowing you to view pay TV without, err, paying . Some of these show Premier league soccer as well as films etc.If you wanted to buy a subscription for soccer then DigitAlb is the popular choice at around £150 for a 12 month card. Hope this helps ![]() Kev

Oh, forgot to add that if you go the subscription route, you'll need to add a card reader to the above receiver (around £30) or get a TM 1500 (£90) instead.

Welcome to the forum aliwest.
Mship has said it all so not a lot to add but you will be amazed at the number of channels you can watch. The biggest problem is that there are so many that you nearly always miss the beginnings of films. The footy is a bit easier because the times are all known.
