it is fun up to the point where it drives you up the wall

the technomate software isn't open source so its bound to get all these shoddy software but them ds guys did good except for the minor issues

also i just know that I'll spend up and buy a dm 7020 and I'll been jinxed by the 9100 and it will all go wrong again

Wod - if I can run a 7020 for a year without totally bollixing it up (yet ) anyone who has a bit of experience with sat receivers can. With the right image on, its a case of pressing 2 buttons to update the k&ys if you are feeling lazy

wod m8, get a dreambox 7020 and put the 9100 in another room. You will be able to link the two boxes and as the images for the Techy improve, you will get good use of the 9100 in another room or watch and record different progs.

If you've managed to get the 9100 to work most of the time you will have no probs with the Dreambox

If you are referring to the thread on the TM9100 forum - I suggest you read the last few posts - particularly those from ukur - the software is open source and available.

Is that true?

I hope so. I had an email from the admin drumming up support to get Techno to release it.

I thought it was a little odd, because there is a CVS available.

When I get a mo, I'll go do some reading over there.

Welcome to the forum BTW

OK, read that now.

It's a bit of a mess, and it's neither one thing nor the other. We know the source for Enigma/Tuxbox is available. That's obvious.

I certainly didn't know that the iTGate CVS included makefiles for Technomate 9100 and 9100 Super, but that's not the full story either.

I've never worked on a CVS system but I've done a bit of concurrent development and I know exactly how it works. Technomate cut an image which is now running on the TM-9100. We don't know what they used to build it, though you can bet your bottom dollar it was based on something remarkably similar to whatever the iTGate CVS was at the time.

The fact that Technomate won't make a copy of the source available officially isn't good. How can you have an effective concurrent development when one party won't share their football?

There might be so few differences as to make it effectively the same. Who knows.

Those tiny variations could be the difference between slick and buggy.

I'm pretty sure that DMM didn't work this way. I strongly suspect that back in the day, they worked very closely with the CVS project contributors.

Technomate need to be more transparent. I suspect they don't have the foggiest what they're doing, but it's no excuse.

STICK
