Default looping through

Hi

can someone advise if this will work please.

i have a skydish pointed at 28.2E that i mainly use for Sky (obvious i know)

i also have a larger dish which is currently pointed at 19.2E and is also picking up stuff on 23.5E, 26.0E,42.0E,56.0E and 7.0W.

Currently the littel dish is connected to the skybox and the large to a TM1000.

can i combine the two dishes with a diseqc switch and run a single cable to the TM1000 and loop through to the sky box?

It all depends on the default gate on the switch. The TM1000 switches the loopthrough off when its in use so it can't be used to control the switch

I've no idea if the switch will keep the setting of where it was last used or if it will default back to say SW1 when the controlling box (i.e the TM) is switched off :?

If it defaults back to SW1 set 28.2e on to that default. it may work although i can't guarentee it

The only other way is to use a manual switch. You can get them from Maplins

You have it motorised now, or you can just see channels on the other sats you mentioned without moving the dish?

Its confused me a little too I'm not sure what he wants.

If he was motorised he wouldn't need the minidish so i'm just asuming he has to manually move the larger dish to what ever satellite :?

Si mate if you are motorised just connect the TM1000D to the larger dish & loop throught to the digibox. When you want to use the Digibox you just make sure your dish is pointing @28.2e and the TM1000 is switched off

This is how mine is setup, well sort of

The dish /motor is controlled primarily by my Dreambox downstairs. I have an Mti Blueline twin lnb, one wire goes to the motor/dreambox and the other goes to my Technomate in the bedroom. The loopthrough on the technomate then goes to my Pace Digibox as pictured below

Hope this makes it a bit clearer or was i right about the manual adjustment of your big dish

I think the plan was to have the minidish and digibox for the family, and separate kit to play about with independently

That way, nobody shouts at you when you swing the dish in the middle of Eastenders

sorry guys haven't been around for a while.

no i'm not motorised, picking all those satellites up on the one large dish

is a manual switch the answer then? (can't afford motor yet)

sorry, to be clear - getting those sats on the TM without having to move the large dish.

using quad lnb on smaller dish to feed other sky boxes in the house, TM in bedroom off large dish. want to add sky box but thought it would be good if i could link mini dish to TM as well, giving me more sats/channels to play with and using the loop through so that the missus could watch Sky on the Sky box when i'm not playing with the TM. (she's not technical and you can't get all the Sky channels on the TM)

is a manual switch the only answer?

OK, easy one first, as that's just a question for you!

How many outputs are already used on the Sky minidish quad LNB? If there is a spare one, you can run a cable from the 'big dish' LNB into one side of an automatic 'DiSEqC' switch, and a spare output from the minidish quad into the other half of the DiSEqC switch, then the Technomate will flip between 28.2E and 19.2E effortlessly.

Now, as for receiving more than one satellite on your large dish at 19.2E in it's current configuration, it's a trick of the light I'm afraid. You're not really receiving anything off those other birds at all. It's just a coincidence that the frequencies you're tuning to on 23.5E 26E etc. just happen to also be on 19.2E so up they pop.

HTH

Blimey, I hope I'm still making sense. I'm falling asleep as I type this!
