Default Picture appears like "pop art"- can anyone tell me why?

Hi- Please have patience with those slow of understanding of these kind of things...(me) ...

We have a satellite set up which is set up on hotbird for Russian channels (in particular Perviy Kanal ORT). Each evening//night recently the picture distorts and takes on a sort of psychodelic look (and no we don't smoke anything) It is on all channels. Other times it is normal.

The signal strength and quality indicators are both full scale green lines - (which I believe is good!) Receiver is Phoenix Apollo if that is at all relevant.

Can anyone suggest what the problem may be ? Thanks

It sounds like the dish is not quite lined up properly. Try tweaking the dish ever so slightly to see if that makes any difference

Thanks- I will give it a try--
The only thing is would the signal strength indication not be reduced if that was the case?

Possibly, but it's more to do with signal quality.

It could also be something like local interference, or maybe even the video circuitry breaking down in the Set Top Box.

I had a similar problem and ORT is on 12597 - could be interference from a cordless phone base unit or local radio source (I had similar on 12462) - just a thought.

lar reckons the problem is on all channels, so it would have to be very broad-band interference.

I have now had a chance to tweak at the dish and it made no difference. The only signal that I can get is still with the distortion- or totally off. It is permanent now so maybe there is something in the video circuitry breaking down theory...

I will try retuning etc tonight to see if I can find anything that comes clear at all. I forgot to mention the equipment has 2 x LNBs and problem is present on both satellite signals.

Thanks for the brainstorming anyway.

Can you take a picture and post it?

Does it have pronounced areas of red, green or blue?

If you can attach one, we might be able to rule out regular pixelation.

If its all the time on all channel's I would say faulty box or LNB or possibly broken cable.

Well- None too happy.. I have been barking up the wrong tree. I decided to plug a terrestrial antenna in and... same b*^%% problem. Its the TV which is one month out of warranty. It hasn't ruined my week - but it hasn't improved it!
