I have 85x80cm dish with Silent Gold 100. Geotrack 36v motor controlled by Pace SS 500 seies positioner. Disconnected & I am moving dish manually with the help of my Asda dish positioner ( SWMBO asks wheres my sweeping brush? Thats not a sweeping brush i answer its a dish positioner) through the open back bedroom window.I can receive 28.2 loud & clear then nothing thro. to 42e.Also have 5e & 5w but nothing inbetween.
A bigger & better dish needed methinks. Recomendations of what size & make would be appreciated.Cost not a major consideration. Would dish fit to existing Geotrack or would you advise new dish, motor & or v.box? Any suggestions appreciated. I was considering a 1.1 or 1.2cm. to be wall mounted, i know this is bigger than regs. allow. Also looking at pictures of these dishes they look enormous. |

Whereabouts are you based? You should easily be able to pick up at least 19E and 13E with that size dish in the UK.
Are you sure everything is lined up OK? Are their any obstructions stopping you from getting 19/13E? Just seems very strange to me that you can get 5w, 5e, 28e and 42e but nothing in between :? Kev Edit: Just realised that you've got the motor disconnected ops: You should still be able to receive far more than you are now with that size of dish though if you are UK based ![]()

I read that as:
Nothing between 28.2E and 42E (of which there isn't a great deal that comes crashing in) and Nothing between 5E and 5W (only really 1W in there) So yes, there are a few sats in-between which I think you can get, and can only suggest that some fine-tuning is in order. Maybe the Vileda Supermop would be a worthwhile upgrade? ![]() If you want to go for a new dish, and can't quite face a 1.1m dish (and they do look big IMO ) maybe a good quality 1m dish like the Gibertini or Channel Master is worth a look. The Gibbi should fit straight on your motor. What's your current dish? Is it a cheapie?

a 1metre gibertini dish on the existing motor and use a vbox to any diseqc 1.2 compatible receiver you like would be a good system

Just re-read it Stick and now I understand
ops:So, as Stick says, it looks like either a bit of minor tweeking or a bigger dish then in that case. Would I be right in thinking that the Gibi will be a bit lighter than the CM? And, if thats so, making it possibly better suited to wall mounting than the CM? Kev

Yeah, I did but it did move about quite a bit in the wind and I wondered if the weight of the dish made this a bit worse :? I was forever nudging it about last winter.
I'm sure I read somewhere about a Channel Master dish shearing the bolts off the top of a 36v motor and crashing down Not sure if this was the steel dish or the fibre glass version though ![]() Kev

it could if the force was quite a bit on it but i doubt it would do that to a 1224 motor as that looks very solid
your dish might have moved around as the motor you have might not be that strong i don't think they weigh that much anyway, a steel dish would be heavier i'm sure

Many thanks guys for your input.I managed to tune in all sats on prestored list on SL65 except for 30w(obstructed) & 39e maybe problem with dish size.I managed to input a new sat into prestored list ,many thanks to BPW.
Iam desperate to get 33e for the footie.1w was to align sat. arc for when i reconnect the motor Edusat freq 3710 s/rate 2142 came in strong on 1w, maybe 6 others inc. several feeds. BGonaSTICK I inherited/ bartered the system i have except SL65. so i dont know dish manufacturer, other than it is solid steel. It seems ok, just is not big enough to pull in 33e(my holy grail atm.) I am not worried about 1.1m. dish they just look enormous in photos. The Gilbertini looks good esp. if it will fit straight onto motor.Do they do a 1.1/1.2m. When moving to 5w i would need to fit longer T&Ks as the bracket atm. is fabricated in one piece & would not be enough to allow dish to turn 90 degrees to wall.Is the Geotrack decent quality. Would the C/M be more of a challenge to fit & is there significant difference in the quality/pulling power & price. |

well the channel master dishes are very solid, high quality but need a very strong wall mount with 3 inch pole
the cost is quite alot as for the dish and motor your looking at 250 ish is the motor you have like the one in the picture below ![]() just depends on what you have to spend, what satellite you want to receive
