Default Motorola ships two millionth IP set-top

IBC 2007 – AMSTERDAM. Motorola is celebrating the shipment of its two millionth IP set-top box. The VIP1510 was shipped as part of a consignment of 150,000 units to the Swedish telco TeliaSonera. The milestone was reached only five months after Motorola shipped IPTV box number one million.

TeliaSonera’s aggressive rollout of its service in the competitive Swedish market has seen subscriber numbers grow by 50% since the company passed the 100,000 mark in May. The VIP510 supports both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC in standard and high definition. The featureset also includes a digital video recorder.

Motorola’s position in the IPTV and video market has been strengthened over the past 12 months through a series of acquisitions including Broadbus, Tut Systems, Terayon Systems and Modulus Video.
