Default ITV 1 HD to launch Spring 2008

High definition broadcasts from ITV1 will launch on digital satellite next Spring, the network confirmed today.

ITV plans to spend £10m during 2008 on the launch of ITV1 HD and its participation in Freesat, the upcoming digital satellite marketing joint-venture with the BBC.

The broadcaster said it would "continue to support the growth of Freeview and lead the campaign for high definition on the digital terrestrial television platform."

They haven't said that yet (unless I've missed something in the last few days?)

well there are to be no new public MUX's after switchover, and the freed up space is to be sold off to the highest bidder. Sky are trying to obtain a licence to transmit on freeview in mpeg 4 but it wont be free.
