ITV are looking at axing nearly half the regional news programmes to save money Looks like the final shake up will see the Border and Tyne Tees & West and Westcountry operations merged, the east/west Midlands split axed and Meridian rejoining the Thames Valley operation.

So the news will look like this:

London Tonight
Central Tonight
Granada Reports
Meridian Tonight
Calendar
Anglia Tonight
West/Westcountry
Border/Tyne Tees
Wales Tonight

I like Lookaround the Border news service. F**k all of any interest to me ever happends in Newcastle and I certainly have no interest in watching Tyne Tess news thank you very much ITV.

Also, isn't the Border news already split in two :? Between Cumbria and the Borders? So will it now all be one with Tyne Tees thrown in as well?

I notice that the local ITV Sport teletext service (p470) no longer carries sports story's and only acts as a results service
