Hi first post on this board, so pleasse be gentle!!
I've recently got hold of a new PC-running vista home premium. I've installed my Skystar2 PCI card and the Prog DVB and it works just fine, but I also like to have Alt-DVB installed too. Downloaded the latest version from the Alt-DVB website, tried to run the .exe file and I just get a message say 'alt-DVB has stopped working' then an endless string of pop up's which I can only stop opening by going into the device manager and kill it from there. I've tried running it under XP compatibility mode, as administrator, nothing seems to matter. Anyone got any ideas? |

A big welcome to the forum deadwing. You have joined the club as far as Altdvb and Vista is concerned.
And why should we be gentle and spoil our fun. ![]() I have dual boot vista and xp running on my pc just because of the altdvb and vista problems. It runs ok sometimes but is not reliable. It is particulary bolshie when I try to run plugins. Compatibility mode makes no difference for me. Hopefully Altdvb will be recompiled for vista one of these day.

I've had AltDVB running fine on Vista, but it seems that other people don't have my luck. I've never had a problem with DVBDream on Vista, so it's become my application of choice. You might want to give it a go, if you don't have any luck with AltDVB.

Hi Rocket, are you running any plugins on Altdvb because they are what seem to cause Vista to throw a tantrum.

I wasn't, no - and now, on a reinstall, I can't even get the damn thing to run. Why did I have to open my big mouth? :roflmao:
I'll let you know if I can get it running again. |

Going to throw some AltDVB at the Vista thing in the next couple of days, but I want to have a play with it before I break it
![]() Does anything run properly on Vista, or is it purely the plugins that trouble it?

Thanks for the replies folks.. glad it's not jus me then!! The curious thing is that everyone seems to be havign different problems!! The only real reason I wanted to re-install it was for the (few) FTA HD channels- for some reason I don't seem to get them with Prog DVB
