I think i've just updated my channels with latest softcam package how can I tell which channels have been opened? Softcam gives names such as tv cabo/globo/d+ etc but how can i find out what channels these are and on what satellite?
(the reason I say think is that i thought the softcam opened the tps channels on hotbird but i still cant receive!) I have also installed the latest patch for my box but whats the difference between this and the softcam? Also on the softcam, some of them state AU (auto update)? what does this mean and how is it achieved? Does it mean I dont have to keep inputting keys? Sorry for confusion

Answers to two questions will help folk to give fuller assistance: what receiver/box are you using and is your dish motorised?
Seeing as you are on Hotbird; go to the channel M6 Music Black or any other channel on 10873 V (sometimes the receiver may read it as 10872 or so close) such as France 4 or France 5; and leave it for up to 40 seconds or more to see if your current patch will clear it. D+ is a package of channels that you can find on either 19e or 30w; Cabo is a package that is on 30w but it seems that patches are not opening it currently. For the D+ package channels, have a gander at: http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/dpastra.html

Hi m8,
I take it you have a Technomate? Digital + and Premier are on 19E, Cabo is on 30W but by all accounts has now gone black , and Polsat is on 13E. TPS should AU by going to France 5 on 10871 V 27500 (just tried it on mine and it worked fine )Yes, Auto Update means you don't have to keep inputting keys, but you often have to revert to softcams/manually entering keys as some providers quickly put a stop to AU by sending out false keys : ![]() Have a look at the site below for where to find all the providers: _http://www.lyngsat.com/index.html Kev Edit: Bigtee's beat me to it ![]()

Thanks for the info. So how does it auto update, just from the satellite? I take it I dont have to have the laptop connected all the time?

You don't have to keep your 'puter connected. For TPS, just go to any of the channels on 10873V till it clears and the rest of the TPS channels should also clear.
For the rest, generally wait till they go off then load latest softcam or manually insert appropriate keys using the Remote.

Are any of the other channel packages on auto update and which channels do I need to be on for it to work?
Also I have just loaded a new s/w patch onto the box and I read somewhere about the box then needing a factory reset, is this true? Surely this would erase everything i've just put on?
