Channel 4's catch-up TV service, 4oD, is now offering viewers the chance to download TV shows they have missed up to 30 days after they were broadcast.
Like the BBC's recently launched iPlayer, 4oD had limited the catch-up window to seven days after broadcast. The move comes as 4oD increases the number of shows available for download. In June broadcast rivals the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV were said to be discussing a collaborative joint venture which would pool programming for online download into a single service. The single service, which was reportedly codenamed Project Kangaroo, would overcome fragmentation and consumer confusion, offering a single download portal which other broadcasters could also populate.
