Default Channel List

I have lots of channels on my TM1500 CI that are just named tv1 astra... tv2 astra... etc such as some of the Premier channels. Does anyone know why this is and is there anything I can load onto the box to get the right names without having to manually rename them all?

No, I think those are the 'on demand' or 'portal' type slots.

On the proper provider receivers and compatibles the channels are linked to via a selection screen.
( A bit like on Sky, press the coloured button)

But the Technomates do not have this facility.

What is shown on the slots varies, and is not for a particular channel.

Can you give an example TP, just in case I'm talking total codswallop?

These oddly-named channels are usually either:
  • [#] Testing (in which case they will probably get renamed at some point)
[#] Temporary feeds (and so will be gone soon anyway)

or (as is the case with Premiere)...
  • [#] Not supposed to be accessed directly, but via one of the portals (Dieckt, Sport or Erotik) as a 'sub-channel'.

So no - nothing much you can do about it.

You can rename them, but Premiere (for example) may move them about, switch them from one portal to another, or delete them altogether.

Also, if you rename them, this will be overwritten next time you perform a scan, unless you save them off separately somehow.

HTH

STICK

LOL, beaten to it again. Had lunch mid-post ops:

I don't know about separately, but the Loader software enables you to do a back up all
channels to your PC. Which is highly reccomended before making any 'updates' to the box anyway.

I think on the Technomate that TV1 etc, are the Premiere Portal channels, which can be accessed through the appropriate portal, Sport, Films, Porn.
A guide from Echelon on accessing these channels:

for premiere or similar portal systems

goto the portal channel ( sport or erotik or direkt )

now press the yellow button and select say 2 x 3 or 3 x 3 etc

the various options will appear in their own windows

use the up/down/left/right to select the required channel ( highighted in blue ) and press OK to choose it

press OK again and you should get the required channel

Right, tried what Mickha said.

Not quite what I expected, but much better than scrolling through channels.

It is a mult-picture option, and for whatever channel you press the yellow button on, it brings up a grid of the one selected plus the following 8 channels ( for 3 x 3) in the order that they are in on the EPG.

In order for it to be useful all the TV1... TV2... etc have to be together on the EPG/channel list.

Also it won't cover all the channels in one go, but you can repeat the procedure a bit further down the list.
You don't have to start with the portal.

Nice one Mickha.

Yep, the Yellow button is a general multi-channel preview option and not specifically for the Portal(s); it should work for the portal channels (a) if they have been scanned into the receiver and (b) if they are next to one another within a range of 9 on the channel list being used e.g. on a particular satellite or on a particular favourite list.

Very useful

A nice feature. I didn't know about this either.

My SL65/12 also has this feature - just press M/P on the remote.
