Default Co-ax c@ble

How important is it to use the newer, higher quality satellite cable?

I currently have the older, brown, low loss tv cable and was wondering if i would benefit by upgrading to the newer cable?

Hi mate,
Basically, the low loss TV c&ble is sh!te for satellite use.
It doesn't have enough screening and attenuates the signals too much.
Sky's contractors very kindly used this c@ble when I had it installed a few years back.
As soon as there was any hint of rain, I got nothing but earache from my sons as they couldn't watch Boomerang.

It's not really a case of newer, but getting the correct quality c@ble for the job.

The better cables use double screened copper braid and foil.
I have used WF100 which also has a foam dilectric, and it's more crush resistant.
There are other high quality cables too.

Even the sat c@ble that B@Q sell is better than using ordinary TV coax.
But the F-connectors they sell don't fit on the c@ble properly in my opinion.

There is a good article on c@ble types on the satcure website.
http://www.your-book.co.uk/c@ble.htm
(replace the @ with an a)
Satcure will also sell you a length with the connectors already put on for you.

Yep i'll have to agree with what Robbo said

Basically you need as Robbo said WF/CT 100.

There are other alternatives such as HF109 and HF65

If its a short run you may even get away with RG6 but its best to stick to the above

just spend the dosh and get some quality wf100 as it is copper foil/braid with a copper core

if the cable run is going to be over 30 metres then buy some wf125 as that is much better on long runs of cable

Wod,
Do they do the screw on connectors for the wf125, or do they only do the 'snap and seal' ones?

I think it is.
I have brown and black alongside eachother going down the side of my house (brick).
The brown is much less noticeable.
