Default Sl65/12 killed!! Jtag help - please!!

Hi all

I was messing about with my receiver last night - i was trying all different firmwares in a vain attempt to open prem****!! I was getting the stuff from a german site using babelfish to translate where needed but I have done something seriously wrong!!

The first couple I tried actually booted the receiver but then gave an error message on the screen and funny digits on the front panel display. One booted to a welcome screen then gave an error!! I just flashed the old firmware back on with the null modem and all was ok!!

Feeling brave I tried another and it went through the motions but now I have a blank screen and a blank display on the receiver!! I think I may have used an SL35 firmware in error - When I looked at my downloads it said SL35 B1 not Sl65 as I thought!!

I have read through that you can jtag these boxes and reload the original firmware? I say read - I am following bad babelfish translations?! I have a paralell port jtag but im not sure of the pin outs of the 6 pins on the reciever and also what software do i use to flash the receiver??

If anyone has further information I would appreciate it - It would be a sad loss to have to throw the SL65/12 in the bin as I am having fun playing with it!!!

I dont think thats going to work - but thanks anyway - What im looking for is ejtag software - not null modem serial stuff - I cant use anything rs232 as the receiver wont react so Im presuming the serial support has been disabled by the bad firmware flash?

Sorry to hear about your brick. There's a Wiki about Jtag here:
_http://www.linux-mips.org/wiki/JTAG

and something about de-bricking here: _http://midge.vlad.org.ua/forum/viewtopic.php?t=121

These links came from sat-ulc in the SL35\65 section.

Good luck!!

Theres a dedicated forum for Comags. You might be better off asking on there:

However, if you manage to fix it please come and post here how you did it.

The easiest and most convenient way of posting a link is to put an underscore at the beginning of the address. That stops it being live but makes it very easy to copy and paste.
