My Lat: 51:24. Long: 0:43.

That's bleedin' sat for you.

30% is no signal. Is your lnb cable connected ok?
Just try getting the signal on your south most satellite and dont worry about any others at this stage. That will cut down on the angst.

Just manually moved dish from as far east as it will go to as far west and best signal strength was 30%. With a dish this big (td88) shouldn't I get at least something?

Can you confirm that your receiver's working ok on your other dish?
You might be able to test the lnB this way too.
If all ok,including the c@ble then it's down to your dish alignment.
Is it's view blocked at all?

Just trying to get somethng going on your new setup is a good idea, builds up the confidence.

Use one of the online calculators, have a go at getting hotbird or astra 1 or something, they chuck out huge signals.

Look at Lyngsat, to ensure your looking for a transponder that actually points at the UK, preferably an fta one.

Also the larger the dish, the more accurate the alignment has to be, as the beamwidth is narrower.
With my minidishes, I almost just plonked them in the general direction and got a signal, whreas with my 90cm dish it took a bit longer, with very small movements required to lose the signal.

I also find that using a cheapo needle type satfinder meter makes thing easier. Maplin do 'em for a tenner, and they're open at weekends.

I was like that too... you what i did... got a compass pointed it let it settle find 163.deg from south, madke a mark on the wall, stich (portable dish down) ajust elevation of dish 21.5 - lots of signal... these things only need a couple of mill to lose or get the sig.... thats what i found - on a 35cm dish as well.. nwo the clever stuff starts...

Having just tweaked the dish I found football! At least this proves everything works.. Guess it's just down to some more tweaking but tbh I've had enough today.. I'm also 28.2 isn't the best satellite to try and line things up on..

Here's all the data you need for Thor1.

Note: Dish elevation = 31.3 ( this includes the declination for your location). From this you must subtract the dish offset angle (usually between 22 and 24 degrees) giving an elevation of between 7 and 9 degrees for the dish.

Motor shaft direction must be set to latitude ( think about being at the equator). This gives a motor elevation of 90-51 = 39degrees.

Postcode is. ************** If you put that in to dishpointer and zoom in you can see the shed where the dish is.. When you say dish elevation is that the bit that is marked on the dish bracket itself? The motor is set to 51 and the dish bracket is set to 21ish, which if i understand what you say is miles out!!

I have just taken out the location data because otherwise you are likely to have all sorts of pervs around there.

By all means send it as a PM then all and sundry wont have it.
