At last some good news lads, I got a reply from a bloke in the Pli site and gave my the method to do a manual install. I had to open the xml file that the other bloke sent me and then copy the urls for the cam and the config and paste them in my browser and then install them with FTP using DCC on this laptop. As for the Vaio and it's Vista, well that is another story, I need to remove the LAN network from it some how and then set it up as you suggested.

Any suggestions on how to remove the LAN from Vista would be very much appreciated and welcome.

Very best regards Wez

The configuration of the lan is the same for both XP and Vista.

I dual boot XP and Vista on my PC and the setup is the same for both.

You dont need to remove the lan from Vista, just reconfigure it as I describe above.

Hi Jim,
Sorry for the delay in replying, we were at the base for the 1.2Mt Channel Master, last night and then I was watching the footy. I had to stop sharing in the LAN to get DCC to work again. Do I need to have sharing enabled in the LAN to be able to connect to the net to get my software downloads through my box? As I said I can copy the URLs from the XML file that I have and then paste them into the address bar in my opera to get anything from the XML file, but it means that I have to extract them to a folder and then FTP them to my box, which is not a big problem for the emus, but for news and epgs it would be great to be able to do it through the net. I am downloading messenger live as I type and will be able to chat to you through it when I get it installed, that is if and when I get it downloaded. It's downloading at 3.3 Kbps and is going to take Hrs 1:17 yet, oh for broadband. This dial up would put you to sleep and we are supposed to be an example to the rest of Europe here in Ireland, the roads are like something from 200 years ago and the telecoms are just laughable, add to that the uselessness of the regulator and you have a free for all that is just not any use to anyone except the fatcats that run them.

I shall talk to you when I get this downloaded and installed, providing that is OK with you.

Very best regards and good luck Wez
