Re: Sony BRAVIA D3000 Series thread

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all,

To anyone reading this who is pondering getting a new 32" (as I was last week), just DO IT. I scoured literally hundreds of pages of forums and internet reviews getting opinions on the D3000, Samsung M86/7, Panny's, Tosh's and there is a massive difference of opinion out there.

In the end, I just went down to Hispek in St Albans and had a look at them all. They know alot about TV's in there, certainly alot more than those wasters down at Curry's.

No doubt about it, the Sony is an awesome picture and visibly alot better than all the others. They had BBC HD on all the TV's in the shop and demo'd SD TV to me as well, it was amazing to see how big the picture differences were between the TV's I was interested in.

Even better, my wife bought it for me as an anniversary present (ahhhh)

I have a Samsung PS42E7HD 42" plasma which up until a couple of days ago, I thought was great. It's now truely showing its age and how far technology has come now that my Sony has pride of place in my house.

I also cannot believe how much this has transformed the graphics on my 360, its so much more smoother and colourful than my plasma, its like its a different console.

The D3000 definately has my vote as the best mainstream 32" currently available in the UK and will be my gaming TV of choice until I can persuade the wife to let me get that 50" Pioneer...

I hope this helps anyone thinking of getting one of these TV's, you won't regret it.

Hi Albert from what i can make out is Sony BRAVIA & samsung are about the same on tech.Just with the Sonys your going to pay a bit more for your LCD.Sonys seem to cost more than the samsungs. This is not the one iv bought Samsung M86/7.its the Samsung LE46F86 there is a difference, these are not in the likes of currys yet.

Hi Albert i can only go from AVForums, thay say the SD pic is just as good.Freeview comes in crystal clear, also for great for Blu-Ray player & PS3 .I dought there be any difference on the LCDS.But i do know tech changes quite a lot on LCDS,iv waited long enough to get one.The money gone out my bank now & i dont play games on tvs.I will be feedhunting from this LCD looking on the HD feeds, this will be the main thing for me with it.I might @ some point by a new satellite receiver to add to this.(god i can here my misses now)Whats the best blind scan Hd satellite receiver atm?

Hi satsid
I myself have the pace ds810xe.Not with out some problems but cheap enough for playing with. Some people still say this is still one of the best hd pictures. There have been updates but i have not updated mine untill they get it right.
There are some good reports on the Ferguson HF 8800 HD HDTV Sat Receiver.
Feedback here from elsewhere.
Well got my 8800 and I just can't fault it, it just works perfectly.

All the information and instructions for this box are either Polish or German but really it is so simple to setup you don't really need instructions anyway.
Instuctions although in German comes with pictures anyway, so easy to follow.

Within 15 mins of getting it out the box I had it up and running and decoding PW HD with internal emu.

Luckily I found an an all-in-one tool that does everything you need to do, load new firmware, send softcam.key and channel editor, as it happens this tool is in English.

So what's good about this box ?

Well just about everything
Stunning Picture quality on HD on my 55" Sony
Fantastic upscaled SD picture quality on my 55" Sony
Built in emu (TPS AU) which takes standard softcam.key or easy manual input
Diablo works along side built in emu with no conflict(very rare)
Multicrypt card reader when patched
Correct handling of the Premiere portals(a big thumbs up for this)
Easy use Toolkit
VFD which shows the channel name
Good build quality and nice looking box
I just can't find any bugs as hard as i tried !

So what's bad about this box ?

Well, it's not Linux but seriously nothing I can find.
Some people may find the 5000 channel capacity is limiting but I don't think so. When scanning you can choose to download just TV channels.

I scanned in Astra 28, Astra 19 and hotbird which I think you will agree are the 3 main birds. After deleting all the cr@p (data channels etc) using the channel editor I had a total of 2439 channels so 5000 should be enough for any man.

Also i see you into vantage there is a hd version out but i have not seen any feedback for this model Vantage VT 7100 HD HDTV Receiver USB PVR .
