Default Quickie on Diseqc/Usals!

I have managed to tweak my satellite list using Diseqc1.2 to improve signal which is working fine
Being a restless so and so I decided to check how the signal now compares by switching back to Usals and have now found that signal on most of my strong transponders is very low (around 70%) although it's still fine when I revert back to Diseqc.
Is this likely to cause me problems in if say I have to realign dish in the future etc ops:

usals is generally a very rough and ready way of finding satellites and is not a complete solution. As you have managed to find the sats with diseqc I would suggest you stick to it because it allows the fine tuning that is required for best signal..

A good real-world demo of why USALS exists (it's easy to set up), and how it's not all it's cracked up to be.

your telling me as i'm not so sure on usals now as not really been able to align up on 1west properly due to neighbour tree. people say you can align up on any satellite really so i align to hotbird signal is good but the satellite tracking isn't right, with my long and lat being correct

The theory behind lining up on your due-south satellite is simply because it's the mid-point, and will therefore minimise any errors further along the arc.

No setup is 100% perfect, and if your arc tracking is initially configured at 42E say, but the time you get to 30W it will have thrown the dish miles off it's intended line. The further you move from the reference point the more any small errors will be amplified.

so if 1west is not so good due to the tree then 5east would be better ?

Yes, as close to the top of the arc as you can manage.
