Default Finally....

It all works finally after (how long) i climbed up to the bay roof - oeeerrrrr its high up there, sat pointing 28.2, elevation 21 - ish, sig 97% Qual 73% ( is that good) towards the sea - nice clear line of sight, picture superb, watching London News.. like being back at home....
Dish is 35cm camping jobby, held down by a big weight!!! into the TM1000 CI...

nothing new here, but for me to get it going how cool is that!!

What cam would people recommend on here? Bit scary loading patches at the mo...... if yu saw my dish install you would wet your selves ops:

Well done buffy.

I think anything above 60% ish quality is Ok for the TM1XXX. 35cm is a pretty small dish.
Let's see what happens when it chucks it down though, you'll probably lose your signal then.

If you think patches etc are complicated, I think you will find the CAM route even worse.
Unless you go for an official subscription of course, then it's simpler.

I only know what I have read about 'experimental' Cams, the 'Diablo light' and the 'Dragon' (TRex) pop up quite frequently.

Still you wouldn't 'brick' your box with CAMS, but the downside is that a CAM with a suitable programmer could cost you nigh on what the receiver cost anyway.

And there is nothing at all to be unlocked on 28.2E of course

Well done with your achievements so far though. It's fiddly, but patience is usually rewarded as you've discovered

Point your dish at a different satellite. 19.2E,13E,1W(bigger dish) for example.
There is absolutely nothing on 28.2E as stick says.

Love to Robbo - but here in the IOM (rock in middle
of Irish sea) we can barely get the normal 4 channels, i say 4 coz Ch5 is totally unrecieveable except on S** so if there is a way of opening up that and maybe a couple of others that would be ace.... In the future (i.e when ((if)) i can ever afford to rent a flat/house) i will go motorised 8) at the mo i just happy to get "normal" telly I am gonna stick a plant pot next to it - might as well and a BIGGER weight not allowed to drill holes etc - long story M8

Used to have everything in London on a bit of wet string :

Sorry buffy, there is absolutley no way of opening up any of the channels on the sky platform. If you want C5 without subscribing you buy a freesatfromsky card for 20 quid and use a sky digibox (or a dragon cam in a CI slot if you want to start getting really technical).

@buffy
Well, hopefully, by the end of 2008 Ch4 will be FTA too,
But there is a lot of free stuff on 28.E anyway.

Have a look at http://ftasat.co.uk for a full list ( ignore the FTV ones)
Those are the sky epg numbers, but if you press the sort A-Z after pressing the OK button, you should find most of them ok.

The True Movies 1 & 2 are popular, plus you have film4. I watched the movies for men a few times on holiday.
In all the FTA stuff should keep you going for a while, until you work out a way to go motorised.

And the only way to watch CH5 and CH4 on satellite is to buy a 'freesat' (FTV) card from sky for £20.
( won't work in the technomate box without additional equipment), a 2nd hand sky box is the cheapest way.

if you cant have or want a large dish then a 60cm dish will do for astra 1, hotbird and the rest of the high power satellites .

you could even add a diseqc 1.2/usals motor to it.
