Hello Great site. I am new to sats having recently bought a basic FTA 85cm dish package for Hotbird/Astra. Though i quickly upgraded the receiver to a Phoenix CIMC which i I am very pleased with. I may install a motorised dish and have read several very good articles on installing one but my question is which sats will i be able to receive? Thanks for any help Mark |

Welcome to the forum Mark.
The satellites you will be able to receive will depend only on your line of site. If there is nothing in the way, you will be able to get channels on most satellites from about 45 degrees east of your location to about 45 degrees west of your location. Not all of the channels on those satellites will have a strong enough signal to be received via your dish but a lot will. Also a lot of those channels will be encrypted.

Welcome to the forum also ![]() Have you had a look on lyngsat:- http://www.lyngsat.com. The footprints for most of the transponders and sats are there, and are a useful guide, as it tells you an approx dish size. With an 85cm, 42E,19.2E,13E,1W, 30W shouldn't be a problem, possibly 16E, plus any others you can manage. Robbo P.S have you looked at this guide:- http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...pic,401.0.html very comprehensive ![]() Edit- I don't know why I didn't put 28.2E in there. :?

well depends as there are two types of motors 36volt and diseqc 1.2 motors
diseqc 1.2 motors - universal fit - use 1 cable 36volt come in either horizon to horizon or linear actuator used with a polar mount need separate 4 core cable for power and pulse/sensor commands uses a vbox to act with receiver as positioner better for exposed dish locations against windy weather |

This might give you a head-start too
![]() http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...pic,365.0.html The Moteck SG2100A motors are still my favourite, and excellent value for money at £40. I don't personally like the cheap motor that Maplin sell. Their Moteck is massively overpriced at £80! http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?...source=15&SD=Y

I've just installed a 2100a motor on my 80cm mesh dish and I'd say there's something that's watchable on nearly every sat from 45E to 58W including three vertical transponders on Nilesat and five H transponders on Amos 4W, the only ones I can't get any video from are inclined, have foot prints well away from the UK or are like 61W with only data pointing towards EU. I've been a bit lucky with the weather with plenty of clear skies since I put the motor up on Friday so I doubt it will be so good when it's turns crap again but in a few weeks I hope to swap the dish for a 1m Gibertini and move it so I can get further east.
