I have recently fitted a technomate TM 1500 Ci Super and all works well except for the other evening, i was going out and put video onto record something on eutelsat W2 16 east and when i put video recorder on satelite picture was still there but very hazy lines across, almost as if frequency was very sinilar to sat reciver, when i turnes vcr off picture was clear and back to normal. I know tech sat receiver is @ 40 Frequency so vcr must be same or very close, is there any way around this or would i have to buy a new vcr or what i thinking of doing a vcr/dvd recorder, any advise guys ?
Cheers alfa155btcc ![]() |

Most VCRs have a returnable frequency, you will need to look in the hand book. You should also see if you can do the same to the Sat receiver. you can do it on a sky box but I have no idea if you can on other receivers.

Might be able to offer some help. If your VCR is tuned to the output channel of the Technomate then it's likely to be about channel 40 UHF. That is a bit close to Channel 5 TV at channel 37(at least that's what it is in Central Scotland). If your video is connected by a scart lead and not tuned in, and you use the AV channel on the video machine, then I think all should be well.
Most VCRs have a screw on the back where you can change the output UHF channel and I found some time ago that if you increase the output channel of the VCR (if it's tuned to the TV) to something like channel 58 or 60 then there were no terrestial channels broadcasting around that so there should be minimal infererence. I have my Technomate 1000D connected by Scart and the VCR uses channel "AV2" for recording from the Techno - perfect results every time. I also have the sound connected to a Hi Fi system and when you crank up the volume the sound from satellite TV and radio is terrific and not compressed. Hope that helps.

Hi,
Yes, you can change the RF channel number output on the Technomate, under A/V Output setting. I have mine on 68, which I think was the default setting for my Sky box. |

Check what channels your local transmitter uses first,
_http://www.ukfree.tv/starthere.php Also most newer VCR's don't have a screw on the back, the adjustment is in the setup menu.

Local interference? Do you have a phone nearby or something else that could be radiating some troublesome noise?

SOme TVs have a setting specifically to receive pictures from a VCR - I know my Toshiba does, and if this is switched to "Off" the the playback picture jitters about and tears. Set it to "On" and all is well. Might be worth a try and you might find that your VCR recordings are, in fact, all right.
