so vlc media player doesn't need the codec to view 4:2:2 ?

Don't you need to record it first and then play it back in VLC or can you watch "live"?

VLC can be used for live transmissions however I find Altdvb works well without having to stream the signal.

Yippee I have finally got Altdvb working ok with Vista. I had to install and uninstall drivers many times and could not get the drivers from Technisat to work without crashing my PC. I finally found a driver that should be the same as the Technisat driver but it works. Also I have the plugins working which link to my Dreambox and allow me to read and decrypt channels with my cards.

Wod, you should be able to do the same with your Techy. I have PM'd you.

jim how did you get it to work as the software just doesn't work and why is the card coming up as network adapter ?

There are new Vista drivers out - Version 4.4.1 - not the beta drivers

The official 4.4.1 crashed my system still so I have uploaded the drivers that work for me into this section.

what codecs should use as i have dvb dream installed and scanned some channels but no video codec ?

its a right fin farse this card as i thought i could get it up and running easily not guess not
