Hi All,
First post here, just wanted to say, lots of useful info on this site!! Just placed my first order with Southern Satellite for the following :- 80cm Mesh Dish 0.2dB Quad LNB Moteck Motor TM9100 Super SkyStar HD Spoke to Ian, very helpful indeed, even when I asked for some cheeky extra discounts and freebies!! Fingers crossed it all gets delivered tomorrow and I'll be a very happy chappy..... Lets hope the wife doesn't notice that I told her a new dish was only about 40 quid, and not all the other bits that will be bolted to it by the time it arrives home!! Looking forward to posting more in the future!! Thanks, Jimbo |

![]() Welcome to the satellite world Jimbo. I think you're going to have a blast with all that kit. Some great choices in there - and you can tell your good lady that we reckon they are all very budget-conscious too!

Thanks BGonaStick!
I'm not actually new to this though, been fiddling with dishes etc for years, and have the pleasure of access to 1.2m and 1.8m motorised dishes at work, alongside spectrum analysers etc too. I moved house and after a year, finally got round to putting up my dish, but I had lost the LNB clamp, so fashioned a new one, but it was rubbish! The mounting on the back of this old dish was horizontal, so that was a bit of a problem for mounting to a motor, so I though sod it, I'll get a new dish... I then decided that my "satwalker" motor has also had its day (I bet no-one even knows what that is!!) and that I would get a new motor.... and it kinda snowballed from there! Since my current positioner is an old MSS1000IP, I needed a DiSEq positioner, and I thought, well, if I'm getting the positioner, I might as well get a reciever, and that then ended up as a TM9100!! The SkyStar HD is pure indulgence!! I already have a Nexus-S and a SkyStar 2..... but I want to get DVB-S2 transponders too.... oh and FYI it all routes into my "cinema" room, which has a 2.4m screen hit by a 720p projector, and a pair (will be soon, only 1 in place now) of 21" Sony Trinitron flat screen (not panel!) monitors with a PC on each one so I can have three different events on at the same time... over the top? I think so!! ![]() Jimbo |
