As far as I know Sid, only the RAI one, and only with the patch, like you I don't go to the 'dark' place too often to find these things out. I found this by accident. ( I don't understand Italian)

I don't know too much about them, but as I understand it, it is just another handle for the box to know which data stream it's after, similar to the Vpids, and Apids etc. The ecm data stream, is something to do with the encryption data. Satsid may be able to explain it.

Ok here goes.when i use to mess about with a nokia you could see ecm idents.Tps use lots of idends, but there is one true one & others are false.By picking the right one your see a pic, idents can change as to what channel you view, even though its still tps.I think this is right, but its been a long while since i messed with this.hope this clears this up a bit.Thats why i asked on the tms.If there is one i reckon there be more,i guess hidden in some way on the tm.I did not expect to get a repley how, maybe there just not there hmmmmmmmmm.

The ECM is the Entitlement Control Message, not to be confused with the other 'ECM' in the satellite world - the Electronic Counter Measure.

The Entitlement Control Message is used to pass the commands back and forth to the subscription card to validate your right to watch a particular encrypted stream. Providers use fake ECM's to catch out fake, or 'pirate' cards, and this is half the reason the term 'Electronic Counter Measure' exists. It doesn't really mean the same thing at all, but gets misused all the time.

It's the EMM's (Entitlement Management Messages) though that carry most of the operational data, including changes to key values.

You've been most helpful in this thread; I did the recommended hokery-pokery and, indeed Robert's ya father's brother, pictures and sound on 1-2-3. I Had Africa and Asia before on BISS.

Maybe to clarify procedure:

Go to each channel one at a time (I had to do each of the three channels individually); when on channel, press menu-system info-cas; go to ident 0030; press blue button on remote; move highlight away from 'Auto' to Line below it i.e. 06A7 etc; exit; save.

Glad to help, I didn't realise you had to do it for the other Rai channels too, as I don't actually watch the Rai channels, I only did it to see if it worked, after coming accross the info elsewhere.
