in between working out how to bring down the world economy, wether or not where in the matrix and pikachu discussion.
me and a few mates where wondering why the freesat consortium won't be banging on eutelsat's door for them to move one of the steerables so it has a tighter UK footprint just wondering as everyone seems to be puzzled as to what ch4 and the like are going to do when 2D is full can anyone see any flaws in this?

The biggest Flaw is in your argument is basically financial cost
![]() I doubt very much whether Eutelsat would oblige Freesat by adjusting one of the steerables to a tighter UK beam as financially it wouldn't make any sense as its unlikely that freesat would require that much transponder space to justify moving it to a tighter beam as most of the stuff set for freesat is already broadcast off 2D :? If it comes to it and 2D does fill to capacity CH4 and the like will probably just get shoved onto one of the other Astra 2 Birds or over to Eurobird 1 or stuff will get moved around to other birds to make room for it on 2D ![]() ![]() Nano

I find the whole thing rather odd. Why is it that only the UK needs to have such a tight beam - such that no other bu99er can get it?!?!?
Maybe even our expats are being shafted by the Great European Dream? Is this a ploy to keep a few natives at home? OK, I know that's not strictly true, but it is kind of true... at least in my warped world

I think ts something to do with our archaic licencing laws, same as our stoneage decency laws, thats why you cant legally broadcast porn in this country without a strategical placed pot plant :
The big wigs are afraid if we see sex we will all run out and have a mass orgy in the street, not with my neighbours ![]() Why we are sort of on this subject, why on earth do do ITV 3 + 1 sometimes say they cant broadcast what was on ITV 3 an hour earlier. :?

Things are getting better. I remember when the very rare shop that opened on a Sunday morning could sell a loaf of bread but could not sell a bag of flour in case you attempted to do some baking.

I think all shops should be forced to shut on a Sunday to ensure that shop workers get at least one day a week off. The greedy supermarkets are exploiting some of their staff to the extent that they are taking the ****, frankly.
That's got nothing to do with it being a 'religious' day, but it should most certainly be a day of rest. The British population work longer hours than anyone in Europe, and they need some protection IMO. Nobody died through having to buy flour and booze on a Saturday. I have no idea what this has to do with Astra 2D, but hey

I would have thought channel 4 etc would be delighted to get as wide a beam as possible because it would give then a lot of advertising cred.
