Default TM9100-Super Networking Problem

Hiya,

Hope some can whack my head in the right direction!

I have recently started to mess about with my TM9100 Super which I bought a while ago.

It is as delivered, no new versions, emulators or keys loaded. When viewing the TM About page it gives 'rel 0.0.9' and 'rel date 06/20/07'

I used an excellent Technomate TM-9100 LAN networking guide by v9oly and timo and got it connected to my network via hub. All IP info saved in TM. I ran DCC 2.93 and got green healthy network schematic. Name = root, Passw = technomate (although I have also tried admin).
However I get the following statements.

Telnet Connected
FTP Connected

Bootmanager: not found.
Telnet Disconnected
Telnet login incorrect!

Why is this? and why can I not see the TM file structure within the left pane of DCC?

I'm guessing this is a password issue, but can't see what I'm doing wrong. Also, why is bootmanager not found?
As I type, a courier has just knocked with what I'm guessing is my HDD and Flash Card for it, so I'll try and press on with that. As far as getting into it over my network goes though, I am stuck.

Thanks for reading

G

Hi Gollum. Have you tried to telnet via a dos window? Also try using a prog like flashfxp to ftp connect. Can you ping the 9100 IP and what rsponse do you get?

Thanks for the reply Jimdefruit - no I haven't tried any of those that you mention, but I will now. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hi Jimdefruit,

Here goes :

Telnet first

Ran telnet. With command 'o 169.254.0.33' I get

'welcome! - kernel 2.6.9. <01:33:18>
mySTB login :

at this I typed 'root' and got

Password :

at this I have tried both 'technomate' & admin'

but get Login incorrect every time.

now FlashFXP_36_RC1

Have never used this before, just downloaded the trial version.

In Quick Connect
url.server = 169.254.0.33
port = 80
username = root
password = technomate or admin (tried both)

then got for each of the passwords

(R)connecting to 169.254.0.33
->IP=169.254.0.33 Port=80
(R)connected to 169.254.0.33

All the above in the bottom right pane.
If I move the cursor to the top right pane I get a constant windows hourglass. If I leave cursor in bottom right pane I get no hourglass, just normal cursor.

Hope this means something to you. Thanks for your time.

You are obviously connecting to the Technomate ok but it would appear that you dont have the correct login and/or password.

Unfortunately I dont have a 9100 so I am not sure what the defaults are. As a guess I would suggest root and technomate but I think you tried that above. Hopefully one of the other owners will be along to help soon although if you have changed the password then you will need to install an image via null serial cable to reset it.

Hi gollum. You'll get a proper answer from one of the owners soon, but in the mean time have you tried 'root' and leaving the password blank?

Once you load most image's the password will change to
BLANK on your TM9100.

To change the password use the steps below.
You need to have a password set to use DCC
and Dreambox Edit.
Each time you change your image your have to reset a passsword.

open tcc6
auto update
check ip is correct
whatever is in password remove it leave it blank and save
you will then see login saved
now open pw change, current password is empty leave it empty
enter new password say admin (or same pass as in your dcc)
confirm new password
then change
this should then confirm pass change successful

Username = root
Password for Beta image = BLANK (AS IN NOTHING)
Password for DS image = dsteam
Password for juliet = technomate
Password for UR5/6 = admin

Thanks Jimdefruit - yes I had tried those suggestions.

Stick - yes I had also tried leaving the password blank (from 1st post). As for your second post, spot on . I downloaded TCC6 and ran it. This has cleared whatever garbage was in the password field and allowed me to change it to a password of my choice. Well done, as reliable as ever.

Well, I guess thats the first small pebble I've tripped over on the massive mountain I'm about to climb. What's the betting you'll be hearing from me again?

Thanks guys - much appreciated
