The History Channel is to debut its HD version in the Scandinavian market on December 13. The new service will be made available on the Canal Digital platform in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. It follows the launch of the standard definition channel in the region in February this year.
The new channel will broadcast in English and will be fully subtitled in Swedish and Norwegian from launch and in Danish from February 2009. 30,000 households equipped with HD receivers will initially be able to view the channel. The History Channel launched its HD service in the UK in October 2006 with the US only following last month. Source: broadbandtvnews
