Default Russian broadband market grows

Golden Telecom and its subsidiary Corbina Telecom had 299,600 broadband subscribers in Moscow as of the end of September 2006, or 65,000 more than three months earlier. In Russia as a whole, the two companies added 86,000 in the third quarter to reach 383,400. Golden Telecom and Corbina Telecom are undertaking a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) project named Triple-65 that should cover 11.6 million homes in 24 cities by the end of this year. Corbina Telecom also launched an IPTV service n Moscow earlier this year. Offering over 100 TV channels and such additional services as VOD and PVR, it will be rolled out to 20 other regions in the country in the next six months.
