Can anyone point me towards the latest/newest firmware that 100% works for the SL65/12 Ali B1 stb that can be downloaded by rs232 null modem only?
I'm currently using SL65A.zip and SL65A_Key28012007.zip Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

I have the same box, but I don't know of any newer firmware, unless you want to turn it into a Yumatu/Truman (for which see the appropriately-titled thread in this section and also this one http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...ic,7647.0.html).
Actually I'm not absolutely sure that the Truman firmware will work on the 12V SL65 - can anyone confirm? Sol |

![]() Hopefully to help i'll summarise the options for people with a B1 SL35/65/65-12v and a null modem cable. A) Original - No explanation necessary i.e. FTA B) SL65A, 6 Pines, etc - up until recently the only patched firmware available. Although they often have different dates essentially they are all the same firmware (if you unpack them you will see that generally nothing changes) with sometimes a newer keyfile. The newest of this line is a slightly modified version from September that opens PW-Star. C) Truman mod - a modification of the famous Truman emu that allows it to run on the B1 SL series. Currently the front panel is messed up, front buttons don't function and requires a universal remote. The Thomson ROC3205 is especially recommended. This works very well with the above limitations and modded versions are keeping up with Truman - the newest is a modded 1.3.77 from yesterday. Perhaps in the future the problems will be fixed but work is now more focussed on the next option. D)The Open Source Option - The Truman software mod came about because the Metronic sources and an ALI SDK were leaked. This gave enough info to allow the above mod but people realised that they now had an opportunity to develop their own firmware. This has been going extremely well - already it autoupdates N2. Patches have been submitted for the comag remote, front panel, buttons, etc. A binary release is currently ruled out at the moment but everything is being done openly. At the moment you will have to get the SDK, metronic sources and the patches then compile your own firmware. This sounds harder than it is but it's easier than installing a lot of programs in Linux. On my SL65/12 it works very fast and the original remote functions. I do have some problems though - the remote powers off but not on (so i have to power cycle at the mains) and the front buttons don't work (although a 12v specific patch will fix these). The goal of this is to be a general open source ALI firmware. All the above are available at Nachfalke DVB. Although it is German board using English is not banned. One of the patch submitters is Spanish but communicates in English. Currently the future is looking very bright for the B1 SL-series.

Yes, great post damonfeuer. I await the new all-encompassing 100% firmware for the SL65/12 when it is eventually developed.

Hello all,
I have a question for Damonfeuer. You are talking about C so*rce code of the silverc. receiver, but I have been searching on the internet during hours for it, but couldn't find anything. Could you direct me more or less where I could find it? Have been looking on sat-ulc, and other sites. The only thing I found are manuals about how to compile, bot no software and C code. Not that I have the intention to progam a lot, but I am interesting to see how it looks like, so I can learn a bit. Greetings. |
