Default HD video

Howdy,
Just been watching a DVD on my pc of The Cure live in Berlin.
On the back of the DVD box, it states that the it's been filmed in Hi-Definition video and 5.1 surround sound.
Pictures and sound were brill (got a 5.1 surround system for the pc).
Does the pc play hi-def as standard or was I watching thru rose wine coloured eyes. :?

Computers can play high definition material, but if you're playing a DVD it's 99.9% certain to be SD content on the disc. Sorry to disappoint - but at least now you know how good SD can look!

I'm not disappointed in the least
I'm probably pi$$ed.
Just wondered why it would state HD video :?
I'm not clued up on all this SD HD stuff so don't really know the difference. I think you can get too fussy.
Seen some HD stuff in some telly shops, but wouldn't pay £1000 more for a telly like that. ops:

Well, it was probably recorded in HD but downscaled for the DVD - I mean, Neighbours is recorded in HD, but you only see the SD image on BBC One. More things are recorded in HD than you'd think, actually. There's a lot of HD content out there for our TVs to display... We just have to wait. And wait. And wait

As for a thousand quid telly, know that you have a HD display right in front of you - your computer monitor is more than capable of showing a HD image, albeit a little small.
