They used to be known as LapLink cables, but "null modem" is correct, yes. RS232 probably won't register with anybody, but serial certainly will.
I'd try some other computer places before PC World, if you can. PC World always stock tons of USB stuff, but nothing too out of the ordinary. You'll have more luck with the smaller guys. |

It is called a null-modem c@ble.
and yes it is a serial c@ble. The null modem c@ble differs from a standard serial in that some of the wires are crossed over. Below is the wiring of a fully wired null-modem c@ble (most boxes don't require all those pins to be wired) And you are right, PC-World don't sell them, I tried to get one from there. They can be bought from a multitude of places on-line. I think Maplin do them too at £9.99 _http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=97740&doy=16m10 I just did a google seach for "null modem c@ble" , some company called 'cabling4less' came up, they sell the correct c@ble. Robbo P.S please replace the '@' with 'a' :roflmao: |

I've seen them new on eBay for a quid, plus the same again for postage.
