Hi everyone,
My name is ted, I'm 66yo and retired. I live in Wolverhampton. I'm new to satellite TV, and have a Technomate 5500 receiver with a 90cm motor driven dish. I recently purchased a Dragon cam, with a Fun 7 loader card (whatever that is) I cannot seem to get the cam to work, though to be honest, I don't even know how its supposed to go into the receiver, ie dragon motif on top or underneath, and the same for the loader card !. Do these items have to be left in the receiver or not? How do I get it all working? By the way, the cam and loader card were purchased from Ebay Sorry, but I DID say that I was a total d*ckhead ! I would very much appreciate any info on this from people who know these things. Best regards in anticipation, ted |

Hi Ted
:welc2: to the forum, I don't know much about CAMs myself, but I have moved your post into the most appropriate section. As, I understand it, the LOADER card is precisely that, it is used to load the firmware onto the CAM, with the card being programmed outside with a card programmer. The Duolabs CAS3+ programmer will program cards and CAMs directly, I would imagine it is one of those that you require. Have a look through the rest of this section, you may find your answer, This thread may be useful:- http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...ic,4440.0.html Hopefully an expert will come along later, and provide more advice. Robbo |

Hi ted,
please insert the cam into your receiver, without any card in the cam. Using your receivers remote control, enter the Cams menu and please post back what version of Predator is currently loaded onto the cam, if any. Also have you got a card programmer? If not, as already recommended, the Cas 3 plus is a good versatile programmer. |

Hi fellas,
I'm so glad I came here. I learnt more here than from anyone ! I'll do as I have been advised and hope it all works. I think the loader card has 3 something on it, but I'll check on that. Many thanks Mickha and robbo71, I really appreciate your replies ted |

Hi Mickha,
I found my first mistake. I didn't have the CAM inserted correctly (it was lying at an angle in the CAM slot). I told you I was thick...lol. I corrected that, and low and behold !...I got a msg on the screen ! which said summat like 'initialising'. I then found out that the CAM needed to be installed, so I did that, it took about 15 minutes. I also found that the CAM had Dragon 3.61 installed on it. I then inserted the card, but most channels are still scrambled. The channels have either SD, D, or A by them. At least, with your help I'm getting somewhere ! What do I need to do next? In gratefull anticipation, ted |

Predator 361 is the last Predator version available.
Once the Cam has the Predator firmware loaded do not insert the loader card, the cam firmware, Predator 361, opens the channels. Now we need to know which satellites you are capable of receiving, do you have a motorised dish or is it fixed on one satellite? Predator 361 is AU (Auto Updating) on the Premiere package for 19E, so if you leave it on one of their channels for a few minutes it will open. Please give us more information regarding which satellites you can receive and we will tell you what you can currently open. |

Hi Mickha,
Thanks for your reply. I have a motorised system with a 90cm dish. I did what you said, and what I get when I press the Sat key on the remote I see as follows : eutel w2 '' w3 '' w1 astra 1b '' 3a '' 2-euro turk 1c hispasat telstar atlantic b telecom 2 int707 tho23 sirius 2 hotbird Sheesh, that seems a lot of satellites ! these were not set up by me, and were on when i purchased the receiver.on some of the satellites it says 'no signal'. Presumably because something is blocking the signal. I took the card out, as you advised, and left the CAM in, and on Astra 2. I hope I did all you asked me to do. Cheers mate |

You need Astra 1, 19.2E, to get the most from your Cam.
This page will give you an idea of the channels available on the satellites at 19.2E: _http://www.lyngsat.com/astra19.html I can't spot it on your list, but if you provide some information on your receiver, and motor, we should be able to help you receive it. It might help if you tell us a little more about your system, how long has it been installed, is it tracking the arc correctly, etc. Can you get a signal from all the satellites in your list? |

This version of Predator(3.61) is also automatically updating the TPS channels on Hotbird,as well :http://en.kingofsat.net/pack-tps.php. To unscramble the TPS channels,go to one of the channels on transponder 10873.00 V -27500 -3/4 e.g France 4 wait until the picture clears, can take up to a minute. Then you will be able to watch the entire package. This unscrambling lasts til 3AM every day and you will have to repeat the above, every day to clear the TPS channels. |
