Hi,
I've got some sat'equipent hanging around the place that hasn't been used for sometime.Knowing how quickly this kind of things move on, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how useful its is now and what kind of stuff I could pick up with it now if I can get it working again. Here goes; An echostar DS13 -2110 2Ci,with some sort of positioner.A "Free-XTV"cam which says Hotbird 13degrees and Astra 19.2 degres on it.This came with a smartcard which says "fun" on it and "open platform". If any one can shed any light on the usefulness of this now and what I would have to do to get it going again-if possible,I'd be very grateful. Thanks |

The Cam is a Free XTV porn cam, which I doubt is of much use now, and the card is a funcard, again not of much use.
Is your receiver the Echostar DSB 2110 2CI? There is a manual available at Echostar: _http://www.echostareurope.com/support_manuals_search1.asp?search=2110 What type of dish, and motor, have you got? |

To open any of the scrambled channels, with your receiver, you will probably need a cam, the two most popular at the moment are the Diablo and the Dragon/T-Rex, but you need to check if both are compatible with your receiver.
You will also need a programmer, I currently recommend the Cas 3 plus, as this can programme cards, and cams, and should be very useful for a number of years. Considering the expense of these items it might be cheaper to get a new patchable receiver, there are a few cheap ones around, the Technomate and Vantage range to name but two. Have a read around the forum, and ask a few questions in the relevant sections, before deciding what to buy next. |

Why don't you try getting your current setup working first on FTA channels and see how you go? Maybe you could post a few pictures and we can assess what to do next?
You'll be able to retain your dish, motor etc. assuming it all still works OK.
