Hi there, I opened my Fortec kit to find a Lifeline 11 receiver so I guess there is a mix of receivers with this deal, don't know if mine is any better. To say the wife was 'horrified' at the actual size of the dish on sight would be putting it mildly and she wants it in the back garden as our house faces a bit east of south and we are an end terrace with other terraced houses blocking the view of the sky I don't think I'll get much there.
Is there a quick way checking this? as for using a ground mount at the side of the house the centre of the dish would need to be about 5 ft off the deck, a single pole mount might not be sufficient to keep it steady, any suggestions.

I used a spirit level with an adjustable 'bubble' to check what angles I could see from various locations, you can buy proper inclinometers I believe. Then crosscheck with one of the many AZ/EL calculators available. Another way of checking is to get a small dish, and have a look to see what sats you can pick up with it.

I would't have thought that 5ft of the ground(dish centre) would cause too much of a problem with a strong pole like a scaffold concreteted well in. You can also get patio/ground mounts that you put paving slabs on.
There's some guy on here, forgotton his 'nick' for the mo, using an upside rotary washing line. :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

I would say some things in Maplis are vastly overpriced but others are fine. They also have some good deals and savings at times. I think you have to do your homework before shopping. There delivery charge is very good.
