Well spotted mate
![]() Not a bad bit of kit for the price, and best of all the receiver is still fairly patchable according to the AL7Bar site ![]() ![]() Nano

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago - cheap at the price I thought.
The receiver it comes with is actually the Fortec Beta, or at least all the packages in my local store were... There's some pics in my thread in the Photo Gallery section. It's currently receiving 28.5 and 19deg with a single multibracket [from maplin] although the bracket in question seems designed for a different LNB arm mount and required some creative-ness to install. The extra LNBs arrived today, and the second multibracket should be on its way from an Ebay seller so I should have 28.5,19 and 13 running soon. PC |

Hi Paul,
I originally bought the same kit too. But got fed up with the receiver very quickly, as it kept having software glitches and would get it's channel memory all screwed up. @Nano, by the looks of it, and cofirmed by Paul, it's not a Lifetime, but a Beta. Different story! Support for the Beta is crud. Another reason why I got shot of it. The software for it is not even on that site anymore. The dish is solid enough though, still using that. Robbo

I have read posts from other owners with similar problems. And at one point there was an awful lot of B-grades being sold on Maplin. You may be OK, try it and see. It will have a guarantee anyway. I had the problem when I was adding more satellites. But apart from that, I found it a very easy to use receiver. Robbo

if you do get problems take the receiver back and ask to swap it for a metronic, is so easy to use you could do it blind folded. not patchable though
