all this new activity with the silver crest is making me think about getting a 12v one for the caravan ect
dose anyone know what chip set is in the ones sold in maplins ?

One of their suitcase sets (The cheaper one) contains an S1003/12 receiver. This IS patchable but only by Jtag cable which takes about 17 hours. It has no RS232 port on the back and no audio out connectors, just the one scart.
Incidentally Makro also have a special offer on this week for a camping set that contains an SL65/12 with an Ali B1 chip, which is patchable with the Truman software. It's about £49 +vat. |
