Default French analogue satellite tv

Hi,
I've been trying to find out how to get french tv at home for a while now.
After ages spent looking on the net i came across this site:

_http://www.freefrenchtv.co.uk]http://www.freefrenchtv.co.uk

It's basically somebody who is selling a guide about getting french tv at home.
Using analogue satellite i think.

Has anyone on here came across this site before? I'm tempted to get the guide but
since i found this forum too, i though i'd ask here first.

I haven't contacted them at the site yet, maybe i should, but i though its
probably better to see if anyone else has dealt with them before.

Thanks
Rich

Hi cosmo'

:welc3: to the forum,

I haven't use that site no, as basically I would not pay out money for info that could be obtained for free.

Here is a list from flysat detailing all the French free to air channels and what satellite they're on.

http://www.flysat.com/tv-fr.php

13E for example can easily be picked up with a 60cm dish, I use a sky minidish, but can lose it during heavy rain.

Some channels are analogue, some are digital in the list. ( different receivers required for each)

Take your pick, 5W, 19E, and 13E all very easy to pick up in the UK, with a smallish dish

A really basic digital satellite receiver could cost from about £30 and up, a dish about the same. A full system for about £70

Cosmo you have come to the right place!

Using second hand donated equipment you can get those French channels for nil, or maybe for less than 50 quid if you have to buy stuff!

Heres a guide on how to do it:

I'm new to all this really, but I've just bought an analogue kit from the French supermarket Auchan in Calais for 49€. It includes dish and receiver with remote control. I already had a SECAM TV. It all works really well, pointing at Atlantic Bird on 5°West.
Now, it says on the box that the LNB is digital compatible, so can I just pick up a cheap digital receiver to enable me to get the other channels off Atlantic Bird? If so, does anyone have any recommendations or things I should look out for? I'd like it to have a digitial audio S/PDif output.

In order to run another receiver from your dish you will need to replace the LNB with one which has a twin ouput.
If your LNB has a standard mount for a 40mm neck LNB , something like the inverto silvertech 0.2 TWIN LNB will do the trick.
Yes you could pick up a cheap FTA digital satellite receiver to use. I don't about the S/PDif output though, you would have to find one that has it.

Or you could use a priority switch like Globalcom's SPS1.
