Default Advice on dish size please (zone2 minidish hotbird)

Hi,

Could anyone tell me if the Raven 62cm SKY ZONE2 dish is capable of picking up HOTBIRD from the manchester area.
I have seen adverts on ebay saying that in the north east this dish is capable of picking it up. With the Lnb supplied with the dish.

Is this just sale talk or is it possable.

Thanks

Yes, it should be able to pick up Hotbird in the Manchester area, I picked it up on a zone 1 dish last year and I'm a bit further North than you

Just be aware that you might get a bit of 'rain fade' in bad weather

I get Hotbird on a zone 1 in Kent, but with a bit of breakup if it rains hard, so I imagine that you would have a similar situation up north with a zone 2.

You will just have to swivel you dish round to the right by 15 degrees (from behind) and up a bit, if it was originally aligned for Sky.

Can anyone tell me when the zone 1 mini dish shrank from 53cm to 43cm or there abouts?

I dunno 'bout yours mate, but mine hasn't shrunk

It's still 53cm wide and 43cm high.

Perhaps the 43cm refers to the height, since it's an odd shaped dish

Well I have 2 old mini dishes and they measure 53cm across but the new ones are much smaller both in width and height.

Sorry stallion8008 didn't mean to hijack your thread.

I just went out with a ruler and measured mine, I only got it a month or so back. It's defo' 53 x 43. I thought they were all the same size.

I think the Raven's are the smallest of the Zone 1's, but they are all nominally the same size.
